Along the Canal de Briare, parallel to the Loire river and the superb Canal du Nivernais, life runs by peacefully to the rhythm of enchanting French village life, located between hills and forests, dotted with remarkable sites such as Rogny with its 7 locks constructed under the realm of Henry IV; the Briare canal bridge designed by Eiffel; Sancerre and Pouilly, renowned for their world famous vinyards; la Charité sur Loire (city of books), classified by Unesco as a World Heritage Site is an essential stop on the route to "St Jaques de Compostela" and Nevers, town of Art and History, famous for its cathedral and dukes' palace from gothic inspiration, its Roman church from the XIth century and its potteries (including the most ancient French ones). Without forgetting the Bec d'Allier: meeting point between Loire and Allier, one of the last wild rivers in Europe, it has been classified "Panda Site" by the WWF, for the pleasure of nature lovers!
